Hospice – It’s Not What It Used To Be, With Jenna Girton of Dignity Hospice of Colorado

Listen on Apple Podcasts Stitcher spotify

Hospice is not what it used to be. Most people are surprised when they hear that hospice is a Medicare benefit and can include spiritual care, emotional support for the patient and the family, massage therapy, art therapy, and more. It is truly customized, collaborative care in the way that supports your loved one best.

Thanks to our guest, Jenna Girton, CEO of Dignity Hospice helped us bust some commonly held beliefs around hospice care on today’s Facebook Live Episode. Jenna shares what hospice is today — and it’s not what most people think it is!

In this episode you will learn:

  • How hospice has changed — it isn’t what it used to be
  • Why hospice is NOT a “death sentence” or simply “giving up”
  • Who pays for hospice care
  • That you have a choice – hospice is not a one-size-fits-all and there are many options out there

We also discover that Jenna is from a small town in LA County named SweatWater. She grew up riding horses in the LA County. That’s right. A small town in LA. 🤔

Jenna is married to a first responder, who is also someone she considers a maverick in her life. Along with her mother and grandmother who have inspired her, and demonstrate daily what selfless love and compassion for others looks like. They encourage her to follow her heart and lead fearlessly. (Katherine: I can attest to this, as Dignity Hospice took care of my dear father and I watched how Jenna leads her team.)
